When You're Down...STAY Down!

I realized today that there is a mental change going on. I LOST 11 pounds. I've never lost that much weight in a week. In fact, in two season of Project Pounds Away at the Y (when I was LITERALLY KILLING MYSELF) I only lost 18 pounds total. Hallelujah! But it made me think of another time of great weight loss...

I was going to Weight Watcher for the first...err...I mean, sixth time. I had a really good week. I stepped on the scale and couldn't believe it when she said, "You're down 7!" Seven?! I had never lost that kind of weight.

But guess what? I used that seven pound weight loss as an excuse to "be bad" the next week. "Oh, it's okay...I lost seven pounds last week. I can eat whatever I want!"

Today I have one thing on my mind. "In two hours I need to prepare another packet of food." Just keep swimming...I believe, that's how Dori put it in Finding Nemo.

It was hard to celebrate the 11 pounds. Not because I wasn't happy for the loss. But I realize that "It's great, but I have to just keep my head down and keep going!"

It's like when you're running a marathon (not that I've ever run one!) and you reach that first mile and everyone is cheering for you and you're like...Yes! One mile gone. But you don't stop to throw a party. You keep running, because you know that it was a mile marker, but there are soooo many miles out in front of you. With each mile you high-five some friends, grab a drink and then just keep running. Why? Because you have a goal in sight, even if you can't actually SEE it from where you are. You know there is a finish line.

So...woo hoo!!! Now that I'm down, I intend to STAY DOWN.

2 Corinthians 4:7-11
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body.
